Written by PSUPT AGUSTIN TELLO

Officers and men of the Regional Police Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PRO ARMM) take a special pride in the distinction of their headquarters, Camp Brigadier General Salipada k Pendatun as the cleanest and greenest regional police camp in the country.

Established in 1971 as the 4th Philippine Cnstabulary Zone (PCZ), Camp BGen SKP is located in the town of Parang, Shariff Kabunsuan. It was named after BGen Salipada K Pendatun - a decorated guerilla leader who led the Bongsamoro in staging a Mindanao resistance against the Japanese occupation during the World War II, in recognition of his gallantry.

The camp sits on a hill overlooking the sea - a strategic stronghold yet at the same time an ideal attraction. Visitors can't help but marvel at its landscape. Its nine-hole golf course is at par with international standards and considered as one of best public golf course in the country.

Stepping into the camp is like going to a private golk course or resort. The view is just captivating. It takes your mind off the serious business of law enforcement and maintaining peace and order. And t o the gallant men who perform this, it serves as their command center.

The view and amenities available in the camp give them a respite from the gravity of their job as Mamang Pulis. It also serves as a retreat for their dependents and ordinary civilian alike.

Because of its cleanliness and exquiste view, Camp Bgen SKP has been consistently proclaimed as the cleenest and greenest police regional office in the country. The special award is given each year by the Internal Affairs Service (IAS) of the Philippine national Police.

The recognition cites the camp as the being a model for a healthy and wholesome environment.

"We are proud to be in this camp. Its defensive location and beauty are something that we can pride in,." says PRO ARMM Regional Director PCSUPT JOEL R GOLTIAO.

Keeping the camp at its best is among the top priorities of the incumbent leadership of the regional police command. Special projects have been put in plac to improve facilities in the camp. "It's not only important that we try to advance an ideal police force, we must be able to provide an ideal police camp," Goltiao said.
